That's certainly a reaction typical of Sarah, and it's definitely one the bully didn't expect, judging from her expression. I can't help but think, though--if this were real life and not a comic strip, Sarah's forgiving nature wouldn't help her much. She would likely end up seriously hurt if the bully broke loose for even a moment.

Isn't that sweet.
I will have to keep this in mind if I ever get violently harassed, or jumped. I'll just forgive my attackers.

I bet a construction paper crown would look really, really pretty on me too while I'm lying in a hospital bed. Or on a slab in the morgue.

There's a REALLY big distinction to be made between forgiveness and allowing yourself to be a victim. They're not the same. The thing they both have in common is that you do them for yourself.

Dangit Sarah, you're too nice! XD On the other hand it DOES make her the bigger person. And I imagine it'll annoy the Hell out of Penny now that she realizes that Sarah has gotten over her bullying and now it won't hold the same power as it used to.

I think this is a good thing for Sarah's own sake. Forgiving someone doesn't mean you have to forget everything they've done to you and pretend there's a clean slate, or give them opportunities to hurt you again; but it does give you the chance to let go of anger and resentment, and stop it from eating you up.

I love that she is compassionate enough to tell Penny "I forgive you," and smart enough to know they aren't magic words that automatically fix everything.

Interesting takes, both of you. Yes, we'll see Penny's reaction friday. Rainey. Gelliebean, those are my thoughts exactly. Forgiveness isn't the same as allowing yourself to be attacked again, or even trusting the forgived not to do it again.
